Dr. Kristie Wood

I was born in Greensboro North Carolina in 1972. I moved to Atlanta when I was 5 and have lived here for 34 years. I graduated from North Springs High School in 1990 then attended the Georgia Institute of Technology for two years. I then transferred to the University of Georgia for a year and got early acceptance the Veterinary school and graduated in the class of 1997.  I have been practicing at Vernon Woods Animal Hospital for the past 14 years and opened Wood Animal Hospital in May 2011.

I have a pure passion for the animals and their “people” who care for them.  I feel like I am an educator to help the owners make the best decisions for their pets and their families.

I have three beautiful yellow Labrador retrievers named Dixie, Woody and Ben that I love with all my heart.  We lost “Tanner” in December of 2009 to cancer but he still holds a place in my heart and his picture is now on my wall in my lobby. His image smiles at me while he watches me fulfill my dreams of caring for these great creatures.

I have a seven year old daughter named Kaitlyn who says she wants to work beside me one day in our own practice. Kyle, my husband, has supported me through it all.

I hope that my practice grows and my “family” gets bigger and better with each new client and patient that I meet.  I love what I do and can’t wait to meet you and your family.

I was born and lived in England until 1997 when I moved to Atlanta, GA where I earned my Bachelors degree in Business Administration. I have also lived in NYC and Boston but currently live in Roswell with my husband Rick and our furry family. I have 2 chocolate labs - Emma and Hank, a pug named Percy and cat named Ollie. I lost my first dog Charlotte to renal failure in the spring of 2012. I have worked in the veterinary field for many years and have enjoyed every minute of it. In my spare time I like to read, garden, ride bikes and bake. I love working with animals because they are such an important part of the family and they love you unconditionally.
